back to basics

December 23, 2011

As you read this, I hope you are enjoying a well-deserved rest.

I have been relishing unhurried mornings and lazy afternoons with my children.  We’ve seen live performances of A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker.  We’ve played in manufactured snow, brought in to a nearby shopping center for a holiday festival.  We’ve been having some serious fun.

While I won’t write much over the next few days, I wanted to share one of the projects on which I’ll be working:

from page 13 of Highlights magazine, January 2012

In the event that you can’t read the above photo, it is an instructive article from the children’s magazine Highlights.  This little gem, I feel certain, will help me overcome my deeply rooted fear of drawing.

Using its instructions, I shall draw a pear.  Of course, I will share it with you.

Let’s just hope I don’t earn another D+.

Today, I hope you take pleasure in simple things.  Thank you, always, for showing up.
